Mr William Rayford Poole

William Rayford Poole William Rayford Poole went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2021. He had been living with his daughter in Aurora, CO, after retirement living in Carthage, MS. Rayford was born in Arkansas but lived in Mississippi most of his adult life. His family moved to Missississippi when he was a child and grew up in the Renfro area. He met his wife, Louise Woodyard, in Greenwood, MS, where he was working as a plumber with his brother, Ralph. He and Louise were married on November 15, 1947, in Greenwood. He worked for Sterling Stores in Helena, Arkansas and then entered the Marine Corps in 1952. He served at Camp LeJune until his commitment was up and then returned to work for Sterlings. He worked for Sterlings and later their Magic Mart division and later for McCroy’s and TG&Y. Upon retirement, he moved to Carthage, MS. Over the years at work, he was a successful store manager and regional manager. He won two different cruises, one of which also took him to Israel which he especially loved. Rayford loved to hunt and fish. He held many a fish fry at his home in Natchez. He also loved horses. He often told the story of saving his money to purchase his first horse as a teenager. When he was in Columbus, MS, he was able to purchase a quarter horse which he loved and participated in many horse shows. Family and friends were very important to Rayford. He shared his love of fishing with his daughters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Thanks to one of his nephews, Glen Graves, he had a fishing boat that he loved. There are many fishing stories that are shared at family get togethers. Rayford is survived by: Grace Poole Collins(sister), Deborah Rosepink (daughter), Sue Galyean(daughter); grandchildren, Dustin Rosepink (Lissa), Elizabeth Burnett (Jason), Christopher Rosepink (Courtney) and Benjamin Galyean. His surviving great-grandchildren are: DJ Rosepink, Hailey Rosepink, Abigail Burnett, Eli Burnett and Beatrix Rosepink. He has nephews and nieces that he loved dearly who also survive him. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Louise; parents, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Barnes Poole Gee and Hubert Poole, as well as 4 brothers and 2 sisters: Ralph Poole (Helen), Alphonzo Poole, Bennon Poole, Horace Poole, Doris Poole Scott and Francis Poole Tucker. There will be a family only graveside service at Rocky Point Cemetery.
