Mrs Bobbie Ruth Warwick

November 30, 1937 - December 6, 2020

Bobbie Ruth Warwick Carthage, MS Bobbie Ruth Oliphant Heikka Warwick, 83, was born to Bobbie & Ruthie Oliphant, November 30, 1937. From an early age, she was an avid reader and while in high school worked at the Carthage "Log Cabin" Library. She liked the novels of John Grisham and those of centuries gone by, particularly the Amish stories. She leaves behind over 200 hundred plus books. After high school she attended then, East Central Junior College, where she studied business. Upon completion, she returned to Carthage and worked in her father's hardware store where she had worked from age 13. At the time, Ross Barnett was the governor of MS and was a friend of her father, Bobbie Oliphant. Through that friendship, he secured for Bobbie Ruth the job opening at the MS State Employment Service in Carthage. As time went by, she received a letter from the director of the Employment Service in Jackson. He wrote that his first impression was "a daddy's girl to deal with" but went on to say that she was doing an excellent job and that he was very pleased with her. She retired in 2000 with 36 years of service. During her 36 years, she became a friendly, familiar face at the Employment office where she assisted many local residents in acquiring employment throughout Leake County. Mrs. Warwick was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School for many years. Bobbie Ruth was a kind, free-hearted soul who gave generously to others. She was married to Joe Heikka of Detroit, MI with whom she had 2 daughters, Denise and Kathy. Joe died in 1982. She later married artist, Dwayne Warwick of Springfield, TN. Mrs. Warwick is survived by her husband, Dwayne Warwick of Carthage; 2 daughters, Denise Heikka of Carthage and Kathy Edwards (Jeff) of The Villages, FL; step-daughter, Julie Warwick of Nolensville, TN; step-son, Scott Warwick of Huntsville, AL; 4 grand-grandchildren, Jason Chipley of Portland, ME, Angel Malone of Carthage, Dustin Edwards (Jade) of Starkville, and Derek Edwards (Kim) of Vernon, AL; and 6 great-grandchildren.
