James Lamar "Buck" Turner Carthage, MS James Lamar "Buck" Turner, owner of Carthage Auto Parts for 25 years (1970 until 1995), was born Nov. 10, 1929 to Harley Leon and Matilda Howell Turner, died March 6, 2022 at the age of 92, at his home. Visitation is 8:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the Carthage United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Keith Keeton officiating. Interment, with military honors, is in Harris Cemetery under the direction of Wilcox Funeral Home. Mr. Turner was a native of Leake County and a member of Carthage United Methodist Church where he taught the Friendship Sunday School Class. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 until 1953. He was a former teacher and basketball coach at Barnes and Singleton Schools. "Buck" loved and enjoyed life, family and farm-life. He was a Godly man who had family devotion and prayer every night. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janette Russell Turner. Survivors include: a son, Ricky Turner (Diane) of Carthage; 2 daughters, Pam Turner of Carthage and Jamie Ann Deason (Tim) of Kosciusko; 2 grandchildren, Brian Turner and Rebecca Whitten. Pallbearers are: Tim Deason, Brian Turner, Ricky Turner, Todd Turner, Chance Whitten, and Gene Woods. Honorary pallbearers are: the members of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
