James Edwin "Pug" Johnson Carthage, MS James E. "Pug" Johnson, 79, a farmer, died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at his home. Visitation is 5 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at the funeral home. Services are 2:00 pm Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Wilcox Chapel with Bro. David Cook and Bro. Dale Rogers officiating. Burial is in Salem Cemetery. Wilcox Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Mr. Johnson was a native of Leake County. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a volunteer for the Marydell Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Johnson and parents, John Henry and Cliva Johnson. Survivors include: his wife, Syble Newsome Johnson of Carthage; sons, Dale Johnson of Carthage, Todd Johnson (Natalie)of Carthage, and Mark Johnson (Terri) of Carthage; a brother, Alfred Johnson (Penny) of Carthage; 8 grandchildren, Nicky Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Monica Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Blaine Johnson, and Alexa Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren.
