Joseph Braxton Johnson Lena, MS Joseph Braxton Johnson, 85, a retired firefighter for the City of Jackson, died Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson. Visitation was 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Monday, May 30, 2022 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Services followed at the church with Bro. Henry Heitman officiating. Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Wilcox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Johnson was a native of Leake County and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He also served in the Army National Guard. Survivors include: a son, Mike Johnson of Lena; a daughter, Cynthia Johnson Dean of Flowood; a sister, Nell Wright of Hattiesburg; 5 grandchildren: Allen (Hannah) Johnson, Meghan (Kade) Webb, Ethan (Hannah) Griffin, Clark Dean, and Meredith Dean; 3 great-grandchildren: Beckett Johnson, Emmi Johnson, and Lawson Webb. Pallbearers were: Ethan Griffin, Michael Alford, Frankie Lewis, Ronnie Ramsey, Mark Williams, and Bill Nutt.
