Mrs Juanita Jean Callaway

Juanita Jean Callaway Carthage, MS Jean Cockerham Callaway, 96, entered the presence of her Lord on March 1, 2020 at her home in Madden, MS. Born to WW and Irene Cockerham, she was raised in Canton, MS, graduated from Hinds Jr. College with honors into Pi Theta Kapa. Jean held many offices while there, including class treasurer, BSU president, and editor of the Hindsonian. It was at Hinds that she met her "Robin Hood", Fletcher Leo Callaway. They married on May 1, 1944 and had 76 years of adventures. Living in Oxford, Memphis, Ft. Worth, Jackson, and Brandon, spending their last 43 in Madden, MS. There she became a farmer's wife, canning, enjoying the local friendship club, and teaching Bible studies at their church, Madden Baptist. She was a lifetime member of the Baptist faith and was a founding member of Pinelake Church in Brandon. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher; daughter, Becky; grandson, Ben Parkison; and two sisters, Gloria Langston and Barbara White. She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Parkison and Carol Hardy; grandchildren, Dean (Kara) Ray and Todd (Kimberly) Parkison, Michelle (Russ) Hawkins, Benjamin Hardy; 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Billie Kinch. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Madden Baptist Church.
