Phyllis Inez Murphy Carthage, MS Phyllis Murphy, 79, a retired assistant director, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at her home. Services were 10:00 am Monday, May 29, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Porter officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Wilcox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Murphy was a native of Georgia and a member of Pleasant Grove Church. She served on the Board of Directors of the Crisis Pregnancy Center where she was newsletter editor and a counselor. She was also a former principal of Pleasant Grove Church Academy. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Kim Reed (Marty) of Millington, TN. Survivors include: her husband, James"Jack" M. Murphy of Carthage; a son, Bro. Jay Murphy (Sherrie) of Louisville; daughters, Debbie Hester (Clifford) of Carthage and Jayme Barrett (Bill) of Carthage; a brother, Rob Adkinson of Wilmington, Delaware; a sister, Sally Mann of Hattiesburg; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
