Mr William "Al" Almon Chadwick
August 28, 1928 - August 18, 2020
William Almon Chadwick Brandon, MS William Almon Chadwick (Al) passed away peacefully at his home in Brandon, MS, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, just 10 days short of his 90th birthday. Al was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Ruth Peebles Chadwick, of Philadelphia and Carthage in 1999, and by his second wife, Sue White Webb Chadwick of Brandon in 2017. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, William Chadwick (Joelle) of Napa, California, and Charles Chadwick (Karen) of Fairlawn, Ohio, and step sons Rick Webb (Denise) and Mike Webb (Debbie) of Brandon, his 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Al graduated from Carthage High School and briefly attended University of Mississippi before starting his military career when he joined first the Air Force and then the Army where he served a total of 27 years. He retired in February 1977 after serving twice in Vietnam, along with tours overseas in Korea, the Dominican Republic and Germany. He retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 with the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB) and 3 Bronze Stars for actions in combat during his tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the military Manager and then later the City Manager for Carthage. Later, Al retired to Brandon and was active in his church and community. Due to the Covid pandemic, a private graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at Harris Cemetery in Carthage, MS. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to missions at First Baptist Church, 175 Boyce Thompson Drive, Brandon, MS or the Carthage United Methodist Church. The family appreciates each of their friends, family and community members for their thoughts and prayers and wishes to send a special thank you to all the private caregivers and to the staff at Stay-Home Hospice for their dedication and compassion in caring for Al during his final years.
