William Wooten Carthage, MS William Wooten, 91, of Leake County, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was born on March 30, 1930 to Walter and Bertha Mae Phillips Wooten of Midway. He was a retired farmer, former Leake County Supervisor, and deacon of Midway Baptist Church. He was a member of the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War where he served in Labrador. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, Maxine Watkins Wooten, brothers, Joe, Clinton (Chick), and Paul Wooten, sister, Bobbie Nell Killingsworth, and a granddaughter, Beth Wooten Moore. He is survived by his children, Eddie (Lanell) Wooten, Don (Barbara) Wooten, Terri (Kenny) James, Glen (Betty) Wooten, and Christy (Jason) Wade all of Carthage; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Tennyson of Carthage and Carolyn Eudy of Ackerman; brothers, LeRoy Wooten of Irving, TX, Arnold Wooten and Herman Wooten, both of Carthage. Funeral services will be held at Midway Baptist Church with visitation Thursday, August 26 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the funeral on Friday, August 27 at 11:00 pm with Bro. Mike Skinner officiating. Pallbearers were Justin Wooten, Matthew Wooten, Mitchell Wooten, Marshall Wooten, Mark Wooten, Randy Wooten, and Michael Wooten.
